Generative art
Watch these generative dwellings form themselves from scraped data
Las Piñas
(CYBERSQUATTING)
The piece, titled after the artist's home town, expands as internet settlements. Colonialism, squatters, displacement, url rot, and the making of the home online... As each house is uprooted, removed, displaced, or seized by another, their bodies will move and resettle.
The artist invited over a hundred website owners to host each house, embedded as an 'iFrame' on their website. Over the past year, these iFrames were slowly taken down, the people living in their interiors displaced — until they were once again collected here. The images and textures that compose the houses were scraped from long Google StreetView walks of Las Piñas.
