SUBMIT TO KAKAKOMPYUTER MO YAN
KAKAKOMPYUTER MO YAN! is a new media web zine about Filipino internet culture.
For our inaugural issue, we're interested in exploring counternarratives in the age of the Filipino internet. What are the narratives that have been historically marginalized in the internet’s making, and how may we reclaim them? Let’s give a name to the 'Filipino internet'.
We survey how we have grown alongside the internet and how it has shaped us. We are interested in these questions of identity, power, labor, gender, expression, spirituality, politics, and love that have risen in the internet age.
What we are looking for
- A unique angle on Filipino internet culture. We view the ‘internet’ as a medium, and are more concerned with the ‘culture’ aspect. The internet isn’t a vacuum, but a form that intersects with our everyday life. What do those intersections look like?
- Works of any form are welcome! Written work, visual art, video, photo, websites, software, new media, music (original submissions, playlists, mixes).
- While we welcome work of any medium, we’re interested in work that can be uniquely presented on the web. Consider the form of the internet and potential interactivity of the piece. What would be a way to present your work on the internet that wouldn’t be possible elsewhere?
(For example, turning a poem/essay into an interactive piece. Or using video, audio, and other mediums best experienced on the web.) - Related to the above — we are looking for clarity regarding your technical capacity & capabilities. In your pitch (and especially once you are accepted), let us know what parts of the work you’re capable of executing, and what technical support you might need.

Web Zine Launch
April/May 2023
